Hi, I’m Marianna. Fancy Meeting you here!

I’m a writer of personal essays that delve into heartbreak, healing, finding one’s self and one’s voice. I explore themes of boundaries, the single woman life, motherhood and self love as well as empowerment and independance, and love.

I like to channel by writing. I enjoy non fiction because it feels like trying to “capture” an idea with metaphor and emotion in order to cnvery and try to study to understand it. I write because it feels like I have to and always has since I was a little girl hoping to grow up to be Harriet The Spy.

I am also a single mom by way of divorce. So previously I wrote a lot about trauma and grief and reclaiming my narrative and finding my voice. I am a truth teller I have learned. Not in a scary tell all way- in a let me unpack my own truth.

My first book, “Pandemic Mom: Meditations in new Motherhood During The Pandemic & During Divorce,” is a collection of essays and resources after I had my daughter during the early days of covid while going through a divorce. You can read excerpts here. I am proud of the short writings in the beginning becaus eI wrote them deep in my greif and I hope they can comfort another woman going through a paralell isolating experince. But i have moved on from that project. My child is now five. Her father and I have healed tremendousley, are on good terms and I would write that book differently now. Well, actually I have written a new one…

My second book, “My Year In The Woods” is about healing my nervous system while living in the country as a single mom for (actually two years) dealing with coyotes in the backyard, wolf spiders in the basement, heartbreak and healing and re-empowerment. You can read excerpts here. She’s being sent off currently to my editor and you can (fingers crossed) expect her by the end of summer or early fall.

"Marianna Pease's My Year In The Woods is captivating and sharp. At times funny, always raw. A gorgeous collection of essays about starting over in the very place you once lost yourself. And what it looks like to take your power back, one chicken at a time." - Cara Alwill, Bestselling Author

"My Year In The Woods is the stunningly raw manifesto for a generation of women who long to come home to themselves. Marianna's stripped-down prose draws sophisticated parallels to the new life she's created for herself: one that has nothing to prove, is free of the bullshit we think we need (but are better off without) and is beautiful in its authenticity and simplicity. A memoir of insightful and empowering essays that manage to feel as intimate as a personal diary, Marianna shows all of us that it is *indeed* possible to build a life that belongs to us, even if we don't know where to begin.” -Zara Barrie, Sex & Dating Writer

“Marianna has a rare gift: she makes even the most reluctant writer—like me—want to pick up a pen. Her storytelling is so immersive and emotionally rich that I find myself drawn into her world with every page. Her writing is a beautiful blend of vulnerability, wit, and wisdom. She invites you into her life with such honesty that you feel every moment of her journey—the struggles, the healing, and the unexpected laughter (mostly involving stories about chickens). Marianna creatively weaves together humor, melancholy, deep reflection, and creative whimsy. Her writing captures the essence of real life: the highs and lows, the mundane and the extraordinary, all seen through her eyes as a single mother on healing journey. Her authenticity is inspiring. Reading her work encourages me to live more authentically and embrace my own story. If you're looking for a writer who will touch your heart, make you laugh, and inspire you to see the beauty and poetry in everyday moments, Marianna's work is a must-read.- Kimberly Conant, Photographer & Personal Branding Expert
